Magic Rosin – This is a great gift for all ages, but especially for a younger cellist. Instead of just boring one-colored rosin, why not buy rosin that has a fun picture or design in it? There are all sorts of designs available, like music by Bach, glow in the dark, or owls.
Cello Jewelry – There are all sorts of cello jewelry pieces to be found. We like this necklace or these earrings.
Cello Bag – How about a bag to carry around all your music and cello gear? There are lots of cute cello tote bags out there, like this funny cello bag.
Cello Ornament – Whether you want to hang the ornament on a Christmas tree or just as everyday decoration around the house, there are many ornaments to choose from, from a classic take to a personalized one.
Cello T-Shirt – There are many designs to choose from out there for a cello themed t-shirt. Know a cellist who likes a clever play on words? Sharp Cellist. How about a cellist who lives to play cello? Cello Heartbeat shirt.
Recordings – A great gift for any cellist are recordings. If it’s a newer cellist, get their collection started with some staples like Bach’s Six Suites or the Dvorak Concerto. If it’s a more experienced cellist who has already started a collection, perhaps something like Starker playing Kodaly or Brahms Double Concerto. CDs, records, mp3s or even an iTunes gift card are all good ways to go.
And of course, the gift of good gear is always welcome for a cellist: a new cello chair, rock stop, music stand, or a gift of some new fun music to play!
